Muzak Announces New Music Lineup

Charlotte, NC (PRWeb) November 20, 2006 -- For the first time in decades, Muzak -- the world's leading business music provider -- announces dramatic innovations in its core Music product. Over 80 Music programs have been enhanced to reflect trends affecting the general public and Muzak clients.

"In 1984, Muzak revolutionized the business music industry by introducing original artist content in all of our programs," says Stephen Villa, CEO. "The world has changed a lot since those days of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. To maintain our market leadership position, we're unveiling our most exciting music lineup yet," Villa says.

Often associated with the "elevator" background music of its early history, Muzak now boasts an extensive selection of programs that span diverse genres such as rock, pop, electronica and country. With both the largest digital music collection and the largest on-staff service network, Muzak is the number one provider of satellite music services specifically designed for businesses.

"Each of our Music programs has a unique identity," explains Jon Luther, Product Development Director. "Their names once resembled radio classifications like 'Classic Rock' or 'Adult Contemporary'. But our music mix has always been much more lifestyle-based than the average radio program. The new 'Rock Show' program is evocative of the era when live concerts were king, and aligns better with many clients' customer demographics," Luther says.

As part of the Music product revitalization, each program was treated in several ways. Repetition was reduced -- the same artist or same song appears less frequently during each program cycle. And overall, more songs were added to each program cycle to increase variety.

Select programs were completely reworked. "Our 'Songbook' is an example of a program that improved upon a good idea to make it great," says Dave Keller, Creative Director for Music. "Originally, the focus was singer-songwriters from the 70s. We recognized that the singer-songwriter tradition from several decades is even more captivating for the customers many of our clients target," says Keller.

In addition to new names and refreshed content, for the first time many programs are illustrated by images -- meant to capture the lost beauty of album art. Regional artists and designers were engaged to provide the images. "Involving artists allowed more people to touch our core Music product," says Luther. "Over 100 million people experience Muzak every day, and now respected artists are involved in shaping how that product is presented," Luther says.

What can a Classical guitar do for you?
For most players, the realm of classical guitars is one that they'd just as soon avoid. The scale length is different, the neck is wider, and they're harder to play, so why bother? Why? Because the world of the classical guitar is definitely one worth exploring and one that will reap incredible rewards the more you explore it. A well-executed classical passage within a rock song can give an air of class and distinction to the music, not to mention adding a great break in the middle of the song. Playing classical guitar, even if you use it traditionally (playing simple fingerpicker parts, strumming and single-note lines) can help your playing take a giant leap forward. Classical guitars are very, very similar in their construction to traditi...

The Paradox Of Free Music Downloads
When the Internet was first developed as the information superhighway, who would have envisaged that many of us would be clamoring to get our hands on the free music downloads that soon became available? Of course nothing lasts forever, and it wasnt too long before the record companies began crying out about the pirating laws and copyright. For a little while, it seemed that the halcyon days of downloading free music over the Internet were over. Many music sites sprung up giving promises of free downloads, but these usually formed part of an offer where you needed to purchase a certain amount of music before gaining your free music download.
